Deutschlandstipendium at the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf

Starting in the winter semester 2024/25, the ARTHENA FOUNDATION will fund two German National Scholarships for one year (two semesters). The scholarships are linked to the Institute of Art History at the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (HHU), whose chair is held by Prof Dr Valeska von Rosen. This means that the ARTHENA FOUNDATION supports students of this institute.

Under the motto "Seizing Opportunities" - the German National Scholarship, this HHU scholarship programme supports high-achieving students from all faculties. Students from the first semester of their Bachelor's degree through to the end of their Master's degree or state examination are eligible. The main requirements are excellent grades. These include the current NC of the degree course or the Abitur, the will to take on responsibility and not to be deterred by obstacles in life and education. Students apply with a letter of motivation, their current transcript of records, and other evidence such as internships or letters of recommendation.

The scholarship provides students with € 300.00 per month (independent of BAföG benefits) for at least two semesters, but no longer than the end of the standard period of study. The special feature of the German National Scholarship is that half of the contribution is paid by the Federal Government and the other half by private donors (individuals, companies, foundations, etc.). Civil society involvement and government funding go hand in hand. In this way, the donors contribute to the training of top talent and strengthen the regional link with the university and the region.
